What you'll do

Our Secret Food Tours: Chicago will introduce you to a range of authentic Chicago cuisine.

You'll discover our city's biggest food hits, with many dishes having roots in our 150-year history of Italian settlements. Our moving feast incorporates a stroll through some of the city's world renowned architecture and public art in the popular Chicago Loop District.

By the end of our tour, you'll have tasted some of Chicago's best dishes and will have gained a better understanding of our history and culture.

A thoughtfully curated Upgraded Drinks Package is also available for those looking to enhance their food tour experience.

Due to the nature of creating a well balanced and thoughtful gastronomy experience, many of our tours are unable to accommodate certain dietary restrictions. Please contact us prior to booking your tour to see if we're able to accommodate your dietary needs. Most of the shops and restaurants included in the tour are small local businesses, they will not be able to accommodate strollers/pushchairs. If you have any doubt or concern regarding this matter, please contact us prior to booking.

  • Our tour starts with a Chicago classic, delicious deep dish pizza, a marvel of flavor and engineering.
  • We'll then move on to our next stop to sample three unique chocolates from a renowned local chocolatier.
  • You'll get to try an authentic Italian beef sandwich and learn about its history in Chicago.
  • We'll then move on to a seasonal treat in a unique location.
  • As with all our tours, there's our delicious Secret Dish.

City Manager - Chicago

Jordan

+1(773) 917-5507

"Walking the streets of this city, it becomes apparent that you could try a new restaurant every week and barely scratch the surface of what's offered here in Chicago. From food to architecture, art and culture, this city has everything you could ever need!"

WHY THE LOOP?

Our city goes by many names: The City of Big Shoulders, The Windy City, or The Second City; and it's clear that the downtown Loop District is the beating heart of the city. You'll see amazing views of Lake Michigan and the classic skyline that earned Chicago its reputation as an architectural treasure. Millennium Park has an unparalleled display of public art masterworks and acts as a vibrant backdrop to our culinary adventure. Far more than a food tour, this is a great way to get first hand experience of the wonders Chicago has to offer.

About Chicago Food Tours

Our goal at Secret Food Tours is to offer the high quality food and beer tours that explore the best that Chicago has to offer. Our guides will provide knowledge about the city along the way, and their love of our history will mean you'll gain an insight into Chicago and how it has evolved over time.

Chicago

Our City Manager Jordan always had a passion for food and culture from a young age. After moving to the city to dive into its thriving theatre scene, he also found a shining culinary scene. Being an avid home cook himself, Jordan is always on the hunt for new tastes and flavors he can use in his cooking. With Chicago having such a diverse range of cuisine to choose from, he loves showing visitors where the best local spots are to eat.

Absolutely, not a problem at all! Just inform our guide before the tour starts. Whenever alcohol is being poured, we'll have a non alcoholic beverage for you instead.

Is there enough food during your tour?

Think of the tour as a tasting menu. As we travel you get many delicious treats that comprise a meal with dessert. But there is a lot of food, you will not be hungry after the tour.

Where do I add my discount voucher?
Vocuher
I would like to take your tour but it is already fully booked. Is there a way I can do the tour?

Our tours are often sold out very quickly. If the date you requested is not available, please do not hesitate to email us and we can see if there is anything we can do. We cannot promise but we will try our best to sort something out for you.

Is there a lot of walking?

To join our food tour, you must wear comfortable shoes. There will be around 25 mins of walking but it is not too difficult and is broken up between food stops. The guide walks at the pace of the tour members, you will never be rushed.

How many people max are on this tour?

We take 12 people maximum. If you are more than 12 people, please do not hesitate to email us and we will try to see if we can accommodate.

You do not have to print your voucher. A confirmation on your phone will be fine!

If I purchase a voucher as a gift, or am given a voucher how long is it valid for?

All of our vouchers expire one year from the date of purchase.

Can I choose my own cheese and meat?

Our guide will take care of everything. Should you wish to try something special, please inform our guide and he will do his best to make you happy.

We work with small shops in the Charleston area. The food and beer we buy is top-quality, fresh and local!

What if it rains or I change my plans?

Unfortunately, the weather is unpredictable in Chicago. Bring an umbrella and we will try to be more indoors than out. We do not issue refunds as per our terms and conditions. We also inform you that we never cancel a booking even if we have only 2 people! However we do reserve the right to cancel the tour if we feel the weather is extreme, and we cannot run the tour due to this for more info see our Terms and Conditions: https://www.secrettours.com/terms-and-conditions/

Can I pay the tour in cash?

You must book directly on our website. We do not accept cash payments. Our online payment is safe, secured and SSL protected.

Why do we need to pay for booking fee?

The booking fee that you have to pay is up to our ticket provider and we can't change it. All our clients need to pay for it upon booking. The booking fee charged contributes to the cost of the ticketing system to provide an excellent service to our customers.

Foreign Transaction Fees

A few banks have charged their customer an extra fee while booking with us (this isn't the booking fee but another fee added by the bank). We think this is unfair, if this happens let us know by showing us in your bank statement and we will refund this fee as a gesture of good will.
